District Mineral Foundations Implementation Status, Challenges and Opportunities

Regional Meeting: Bhubaneswar, Odisha, July 28, 2017

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) organized a multi stakeholder meeting in Bhubaneswar Odisha, to review the implementation of status of District Mineral Foundation (DMF) in key mining districts of India, with a specific focus on Odisha, and discuss strategies to maximize the potential of DMFs.

The meeting was attended by the concerned state department officials, district officials, planning experts and civil society members.

The meeting brought out issues that DMFs must consider for effective implementation in various districts of Odisha, and key deliberation and action points were identified by the participants in a consultative manner.

    New Delhi, India

    Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), New Delhi is organising an international conference and exhibitions on continuous emission monitoring system "CEM India" in collaboration with Source Testing Association (STA), United Kingdom and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), India. The event will be held in Delhi on 26th- 28th September 2017.

  • With rapid urbanisation and rising incomes, India is facing a massive waste management challenge. Urban population of India generates 62 million tonnes of municipal solid waste per annum. Only 43 million tonnes (MT) of the waste is collected, 11.9 MT is treated and 31 MT is dumped in landfill sites. It is urgent need of the hour that focus of waste management shifts to processing and resource recovery. 

  • November 6th to 10th, 2017

    The Center for Science and Environment (CSE) is pleased to announce a five-day training programme aimed at giving practical inputs to participants on conducting sector-specific Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for mining and mineral industry from 6th-10th November 2017.
